Quick answers

What is an identity, what is a profile, and what does a plan count?
Your identity is your DID: one per plan, hosted by TrustDID or at your own domain (did:web:yourdomain.ca). A profile is a set of keys that signs under that identity: your organisation’s own key is the first, then each personal key, each department, each member, each shared role such as #finance. A plan gives you one identity and a pool of profiles — Professional has two, Starter five, Business twenty-five. Verifying takes no profile at all: anyone can check your documents for free.
Can one person hold a Professional identity and also be a member of a business?
Yes, on the same machine. Each account you enrol — a Professional identity, a business you administer, a business you joined as a member — is its own identity in your configuration, with its own token and licence. The profile you sign with decides which one is used; trustdid-setup --identities lists them. A consultant can be a member of two clients and still sign personally.
What happens to my documents if I ever leave?
They keep verifying — as long as your domain does. Retired identities stay published, so every signature you ever made remains checkable. Signing stops when a plan lapses; proof never does. It's a standing commitment, not a feature toggle.
Is the verifier really free? Where's the catch?
Really free, and that's the business model working as intended: the more people who can check documents, the more valuable sealing yours becomes. Verification is how your customers and partners experience TrustDID without paying a cent.
Why "request" instead of "buy"?
During early access we onboard founding customers personally — it keeps quality high and gets you founding-customer pricing. Self-serve checkout opens after the founding period.
